Finca Pampa Bonita is located in Quilanga, Loja and is run by Marcelo Villalta, a 38 year-old, third-generation coffee producer. The farm sits high on the mountain at 1750 masl and has 1.5 hectares planted with coffee. Marcello grew up surrounded by coffee and learned about growing and processing from his father and grandfather. Marcello inherited the family farm in 2008 and has put a ton of work into improving the farm and quality of his coffee. Even with a rust outbreak in 2012, he has pushed forward and has improved his output every year. This is our first purchase from Marcello, but our third year purchasing fully traceable and price transparent coffees from Ecuador via our importer partners at The Coffee Quest. We are roasting this one to about 20% development and at this level are getting a lot of bright and delicate fruit notes, like starfruit, pear, honeydew, green grape, and dragonfruit. A really clean and sweet cup!
